Bargaining Update

Last week we sent an open letter to the employer signed by some 80% of SJU ASA members to demonstrate that we are all—CAS and full-time—behind our bargaining team and bargaining mandate, and that we are eager for a fair and equitable deal for our CAS members.

Our Bargaining Team had some productive conversations at the table last week but was disappointed to still not receive any meaningful responses to the proposals on our key issues, such as job security and job progression.  The Bargaining Team want to work with the employer to ensure that the next CAS collective agreement reflects the values of social justice, equity, and academic excellence that we know they share.

We are very hopeful that the employer will come to the bargaining session tomorrow with meaningful responses on these issues so that bargaining can really begin.  Either way, we think it would be helpful to hold a meeting next week to give members a fulsome update on what is happening at the bargaining table and to have an open discussion about our next steps.

The meeting will take place over Zoom next Wednesday the 25th from 11 to 12.  Members should register here to get the link: sjuasa.com/register.
